They may not be 'coveted' by many, but I'm sure a fan. Just do your homework and you can get a nice one for a great price... http://www.pca.org/Panorama/HowToBuy...741977911.aspx

As others here have posted the 75 911 can be a good car if it has been sorted. As as buyer you need to read all the books / info you can get, ask the right questions from the seller as relating to major engine repairs that have been preformed by them and others and even then you can't be sure. My 75 was in great shape when I brought it home 9 yrs ago, but 2 yrs into ownership the head studs started to pull out. The at the time of the rebuild the correct heat reacting studs had been installed so I had to make a decision, stay with the 2.7 and repair my engine or upgrade to a 3.0 or 3.2. I kept my 2.7, replaced the mag case with anther 2.7 unit, had a machine shop pin and time cert the replacment case and used 930 turbo steel head studs. Rebuild cost- $6500. I like and use Mobil 1 V Twin 20/50 oil only in this car, the 951 turbo and the Z car. I havent had a single problem since the rebuild and have many many happy miles on this rebuild. Good luck with your choice.![Cool](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)

wow 6500 was a really good deal for the work involved. I imagine you got it down to the case yourself ? I think there is someone else on this forum who will be very interested in your post

The tech that did my 911s/ 2.7 engine rebuild( I was allowed to get his way and help a bit) name is Tom, Owner of Mobile West Porsche Repair, his Number is 408 429 0545, San Jose Calif.. He came to my house , removed the engine, stripped it down there, moved everything to his shop for the rebuild and waited for the week it took me to source a good replacment case, Total turnaround time for the rebuild minus the dead week was 2.5 weeks. A great guy that knows his stuff.
