Default help: LSD into 915 trans

I'm looking at an '84 911 without LSD. The car will see snow, so it needs an LSD. What's the cost of swapping to LSD. I would pull trans myself, probably have diff put in by a trans shop.

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

LSD's run anywhere from $1500 (used ZF) to $ 2500 (Guard). Don't use a Torque-sensing one for snow use since it acts just like an open differential once one wheel spins.

Labor would be 2-3 hours to install the diff and check-adjust backlash. If the pinion depth needs adjustment, that takes 12 hours to do since complete disassembly is required.

Allow $$ for some parts such as ring gear bolts, gaskets/O-rings, shims, and possibly carrier bearings.
