Huh?

I think the car came with 185/70-15 front and 205/60-15 rear, at least according to the engine compartment stickers. When I got it, it had 195/60-15 front, which was a little small in diameter, and 205/60-15 rear. The 7" & 8" Fuchs were option 1 when it was new; I couldn't find anything in the documentation as to it coming with wider tires.

I did spend some time going through TireRack's goodies looking for some matching 205/65-15 and 225/60-15 rubber, but I never could find any decent ones. I was hesitant to change sizes drastically for fear of rubbing.

These will be OK for as long as it takes me to burn them up. If y'all can come up with some other brands and sizes that will be better for the next set, I'm all ears.

Regardless of size, there arent many "good" 15" tires that fit the stagger for 911. I found myself upsizing to 16's for performance rubber.

205/225 were stock on 6/7 x 16" Fuchs on Carreras, and I'd assume SC's. Those have been the "standard" tire widths forever. Going to 7/8" wide wheels would certainly dictate at least similar widths, IMO. I ran 215/245's on 7/8" wheels when I ran those widths. I ran 225/255 for a long time on 7.5/9" wide wheels.

I mis-typed: new tires are indeed 195/65-15 in front, but 215/60-15 in the rear. Duh.

I did want some good 205 and 225 tires, but I just couldn't find any except plain old touring tires. I'll keep my eyes open for the next set.

Anyhow, I just got back from a 50 mile "spirited" test drive and the tires felt really good.

I had just put this on, and had to see if it worked. Is it possible that a new pre-muffler is actually quieter than an old cat?

Usually old cats get clogged, but if someone gutted the old, the sound could be quieter.

The cat actually looked pretty good on the inside: the grid on the muffler end was intact and very clean. Is there a market for these things and how much are they worth?

Get a proper alignment and corner balance.
Let the car be the best in can be.
