Unhappy Replaced Accumulator, now new problems

Hi All,

I replaced the accumulator and fuel filter last weekend one my 82' 911SC. It fixed the problems associated with a bad accumulator but new problems arose.

Now the idle is all screwed up, before with the bad accumulator the idle came up when cold and was pegged at 1k when warm. Now with the same position of the idle screw and the CIS set screw(don't know the correct name) the car runs rough and stalls when cold unless I keep my foot on the gas. I tried to adjust them to 1k when warm but it still idles very rough, I adjusted them to about 1.2k when warm with A/C on and it runs well.

The only thing I noticed when changing the Filter and Accumulator was a sort of wiring harness mounted directly under them... it was cracked with frayed copper wirers coming out of it though still connected. I have not had time to really inspect it but it looks as if the single wire coming out of it goes to the O2 sensor then on the other side of the 2.5 inch tube of cracked plastic (looks like a plug mounted to the wheel well) has a thicker wire that gets lost in a bundle of wires forward of the engine. Other than that I have not touched anything.

Any ideas what I should be trouble shooting or trying to fix next?

Thanks in Advance!

Question

I have to add one more thing... while playing with the idle today I noticed that the A/C compressor clutch was slipping. Is it better to replace the York with a rotary or should I just fix the York. I live in Miami and so far the A/C blows cold enough though kind of load and a big HP drain.
Thanks Again

If you are going to replace the compressor,go rotary. You have one of the lowest priced vendors in your back yard,Vertex in Miami.Call them about their rotary compressor. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Cool

Thanks... In fact I go to Vertex about three times a week after work. Was there today and they agree with you.
Thanks again,
Marc
