RE-11s in 245/45-16 are discontinued....ask me how I know! I have them on my 87 (7s with 225/50 RE-11s and 9s with the 245s). I thought I'd pick up an extra set of 245s, but they are nowhere to be found...I'm still looking.
I also sent an email to Bridgestone asking why they discontinued them so quickly and what can they offer us for the 9s. Haven't heard back yet.

Interesting to hear the 245/45/16 S02 are available in Germany. Must be old stock left in Germany. Just spoke to Bridgestone New Zealand and they have found some RE11's 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 for me indent ex Japan to arrive October. they say RE002 finished and no further production, but RE003 available next year ... and maybe 16" sizes in that range.

I'm running RE002's at the moment on 8"/7" staggered (on 944 S2 and I love them. Excited to try the RE11's on my new 9"/8" set up. I much prefer the look of 944's on 16" rims. Much more of a period/retro look ... but it is a personal thing.

Anyone have a view of difference between RE002 and RE11's?

Yes, it does suck. I have had the same experience over the years with golf *****. Probably not a coincidence that a lot of rubber companies make tires and golf *****.

My Firestone dealer probably gets tired of listening to me bitch, although I have spent a few thousand there in the last 2 years. If Firestone/Bridgestone cannot come up with something decent in 205/55-16 & 245/45-16, I will go to Toyo R888 or BF Goodrich g-Force R1. Heck, it is a 99% track car anyway.

This is exactly why I sold my Weidman restored still in the box 7/8 x 16's. I just didn't feel comfortable with tire availability and ended up buying 17's.

I havent actually seen one.. doesnt seem like the end of the world though as narrower tires would fit ..

But any of you feel this is an intolerable situation i would be more than happy to take your 8 inch Fuchs off your hands dirt cheap
Correct, and you lose side wall strength, 225/50/16s are what you should be using on 8X16 Fuchs, just put new tires on mine a few weeks ago.

I spoke to someone at the Parade two weeks ago who was a high up at B-Stone and he said they were going to be making the 245's for a long time to come. Not sure why they are hard to find.
I still have them on my 911 and I love them.

Just spoke to my tire guy today. He said they had stopped making the RE-11s in 245/45-16 but will be restarting in 2-3 months. He doesn't know why they stopped though.

According to Tire Rack, the RE-11 is being replaced with the RE-11a.
I got my 245/45-16 RE-11s there on clearance because of the change in lineup.
All RE-11s were on sale at the time, about a month ago.
The guy at Tire Rack could not confirm at the time that the RE-11a would be available in 245/45-16.

I know they are not as "good" as the RE-11s, but Bridgestone/Firestone also carries their Primewell line. The PZ700 is made in 205/55-16 and 245/45-16, is CHEAP, made in China, and occasionally they even have them in stock. Labeled as an Ultra High Performance All-Season. Some people have reported decent results from them in Chumpcar.

I tried to get a set of them to try out 3 months ago, and my local shop could not get them. They also had a hard time getting the RE-11s.

RE-11's in stock at TireRack in 225/50R16 and 245/45/R16. They are not making RE11a in 245/45R16 so this may be the last chance to get the RE11's which I've only heard good things about. There are no 245/45 RE11's left at Bridgestone Japan (TireRack looks to have bought them all!) and no plans to make more.

I ended up with Toyo R888 which I've got to say are absolutely amazing but reports are that they wear fast and are not good on standing water. I've used them in the rain and they have been fine ... but not tried them in torrential rain with standing water. They are also a bit noisy at under 80kmh ... easy solution to that though

A friend went with Toyo T1R and I was pretty impressed with them and great value here in NZ ... probably not as good as RE11 but still a great performance road tyre. T1R/R888/RE11 just bout covers all the performance road legal options that are left for the 245/45's ...

R888's are amwesome but they do not like cold weather. You can also get them grooved and make them into more rain friendly too. I had the on my 996TT (245/315) and they lasted me 10k miles a set and that car was a pig.

When will they bring back the S-03? I miss those tires. Always check the speed rating and be sure you're getting ZR or VR or better.
