'84 was missing front trunk light switch when I got it (1st picture shows how wires were twisted together), so I got a switch, wired it in properly I think, but I have a leftover wire (second picture) that is hot with 12v.
Anybody know where this is supposed to go?

Anyway, I will try that, with spare fuses and a fire extinguisher on hand.
The alarm module is hidden behind the fresh air blower, right? Should it be removed on these old cars and how hard is it to get to?

I sold Red Line to Marc in 1999, and up until that time we saw almost no problems with factory alarms, so I've had almost no experience with them. I knew that your remaining wire at the trunk light went somewhere, so it's very possible it goes to the factory alarm control unit. That was going to be my next thought after finding out that your glove box light works. It's possible, that with the alarm set, the top off, and the "T" pull handle for the trunk unlocked, that someone could open the trunk to get at the battery, or stuff. If that happened, the light would turn on, and the alarm would sound. Good luck tracing the wire, with luck you'll find it at the control unit.
Does your alarm work correctly?
