A what does this wire go to thread
Hello all,
I’ve been trying to solve the problem of my druck press gauge not working (pretty sure it’s the sender) and after pulling the gauge I found this burnt connector? It has a blue and white/blue cable going into it. Also In the second pic I’ve attached is a switch that is under the dash. Does anyone know what this is for? I am guessing its aftermarket.
Thanks, Jeremy

Well the two wires in the connector go to separate bundles that disappear behind the dash. One of the bundles has a wire that goes to the oil warning light and the other bundle has a wire going to the battery warning light. Could it be a common shared between the lights? If so what could cause the connector to burn like that? I’ve checked both lights and they still work. Bentley manual should be here next week it should have a wiring schematic of this right?
Thanks, Jeremy
Thanks, Jeremy

Thanks Ron and Iceman! Id given up on the passenger mirror. Ha I was thinking it was weird that they would only motorize one. I’ve been looking for the owner’s manual for my year but have yet to find one. Does anyone know if there is a way to obtain a digital copy of an owner’s manual? Anyway thanks for the advice on the signature Iceman, your right it would help if you all knew the year. It’s a 1984 Carrera witha few modifications done by PO. It’s been a very interesting month and a half since I’ve owned this car trying to figure out all the back info on it but I’ve had a blast doing it. Anyway I’ve held this burnt connector in my hand with the car on and trying to turn on and off various items and it doesn’t get warm and everything seems to work well (no blown fuses).

it is very easy to fry the complete wiring harness if you cause any sort of flaming short in the dash . - happened on a headlight wire on a 911sc i owned 15 years ago.

Unplug the blue wire and see if the mirrors still work, or if the cross-over switch for the right mirror still works.
NOTE: Be extremely careful that no hot wires are touching ground when you turn on the ignition switch.

found it .. i thought it sounded familiar .... its the indicator light wire that comes directly from the alternator .. my guess is you have had an alternator over voltage condition from the alternator/regulator at some point.
