what years were the carrera 4 made and what is the project number (i.e. 996)

The Carrera 4 was introduced for the 1989 model year and used the project number 964. This model continued until model year 1994 (for the US). The Carrera 4 continued in model year 1995 under the 993 project and was produced until 1998. The 993 C4 used a much less complex AWD system than the 964 models.

The Carrera 4 is still produced in the latest generation, the 996.
