I think we're just on different wavelengths here, I'm talking on the street, when you get caught between a full stop and too slow for second, a quick double clutch will let 1st slide in nicely

I can't think of a track I've been on that would have needed me to call on 1st gear, a couple canyon roads, but you're right not a track

Absolutely. The double-clutch+throttle blip results ina seamless slide inot 1st at crawling speeds. What a great tranny ...if you have a good one and take the time to learn it!

It shifts ok for the most part, but downshifting into fouth has always been more of a challenge.
Thanks for that , I have exactly the same problem but now after 1800 miles I amalmost getting it mastered ( well...most of the time!)

My issue on my 48000 mile 82 is more 5th to 4th downshift. Trans shifts wonderfully and you would think after 2000 miles plus this past year I would learn to let the shift lever follow down to 4th gear instead of me trying to force it. I almost have it but not quite!
