This is the one i was all set to inspect, and the night before i got an email that it sold. I believe i would have pulled the trigger after seeing it.

That car has been for sale for 5-6 months

I saw it when I first started looking for my 911, I dismissed it based on how much the owner lies in the description, if you can't honestly describe a car how should I trust anything else you say (Apparently factory turbo looks weighed in a 3500 pounds news to me, 400K miles without ANY engine work!)

Also he says in has just south of 70K miles but its been rebuilt in the past?

I don't know how far you are frm Phoenix, but I've personally looked at both these cars and they are in good good shape.

I passed up on this one cuz I hate the Strosek bodykit

This cab is a lil high mileage, but Becks is a legit Porsche garage, thats all they do, and they do great work... I just don't like the cabs haha. was seriously considering this one cuz of the g50

I bid $14,500 but reserve wasnt met. Selling dealer contacted me to see if i wanted to increase my offer to present to the owner. They vave it listed for $20k
My concern is that it is less desirable due to non matching numbers and mixed years on the drivetrains. Will the 915 gear box handle the increased power? I know 77 had some improvements to the gearbox.

Any thoughts would be appreciated......Thanks
When looking for a 911 of any vintage that has had major modifications, my advise would be to never bid, regardless of amount, until you have seen the car with your own eyes and driven it for 30+ miles.

An INDY shop could do a PPI if the car is a great distance from you AND give the go/no-go on personal road test but seat time is more valuable. If seller balks at seat time, take your $ elsewhere. JMTC.

Not a cabriolet 911 fan but if the OP is, that car is worth investigating. Motor/engine bay "looks" in proper order.

Thanks everyone! I'm still looking. I passed on both those cars..... One had a nice big hole in the undercarriage near where the suspension attaches to the pan.(discovered after asking for undercarriage pics). All that glitters isnt gold. I test drove a 77 911s saturday. It wasnt bad, i will be looking at two other cars this week in FL. I'm taking my time and i am sure i'll know it when i find the right one. I will take a look at any reccomendations no matter where the car is located. In fact, i look forward to a couple thousand mile drive as a bonus!

Thanks!

I tried uploading a photo of the undercarriage. It would be interesting to hear opinions....but I was restricted, I think. Also, I'm using an iPad and that may make a difference for attachments I think, at least I haven't figured it out yet.

Yeah same here, the car was really well sorted though, and the owner was upfront with all the history, plus he's got a ton of service records from a really reputable service garage
