Post Windshield

Hi everyone,

Can someone please suggest a competent and reasonably priced glass installer in the dc area (Rockville/Bethesda)? I have a windshield that needs to be put in and I've been getting crazy quotes everywhere I look. It seem like they don't want to intall it if they didn't sell it to you. It's for a Carrera. Thanks.

Can't help on a good shop but I have experience with getting the glass and rubber trim thing replaced. I got mine done right. It matters which year you have. If it's 1989, there are 2 different sets of "correct" systems. If you order the small glass, you need the three piece system (glass, rubber, Aluminium trim). The larger glass goes with the 1989+ 2 piece system (just glass and rubber).

Also, fix all scratches or any rust under the windshield and have the trim installed properly with no leaks. If you get a cheapo job, watch out, big time damage along the bottom and sides of the windshield.

Use good glass or a small stone can bust it and you go through it all again. I paid about $1100 CDN ($720 USD) for a good job. The bodywork from the last "butcher" windshield job was about $500($320.00 USD).

Sorry for the long winded reply <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

Thanks for the reply. I have the "small" windshield and a new gasket already, I just need someone to install it. Had I known that a C2 windshield with the smaller rubber would have fit before I bought the glass, I would have gone with that setup.
