FABSpeed Air Box Cover
Has anyone installed the FAB Speed air box cover on an SC. They claim 800% more air. I wonder if that translates to more power? It looks cool and may provide a bit more sound, but more power would be nice too. Thoughts?

I would only buy one of those if you like the looks......the standard airbox gives the standard SC engine all the air it can handle . The best thing you can do with the standard filter is to make sure you always have a clean one . They are cheap .

I drilled holes in the airbox of my SC (I have an extra cover) and I have seen very little difference in HP. 800% more airflow only helps if your car can use that much more flow. If you look how small your throttle body is, I doubt you are going to get much out of that much more flow. I realy think the throttle body is probably the limiting factor in intake flow. If you have modifications that allow your car to flow more than stock, then you could try just taping your airfilter to the bottom of the box with no cover and try it to see if you feel a difference. I would probably only do this on a real temporary basis. But try it out see what you think.

Rick,
FWIW - I too have a drilled cover (it's an extra that I put on for DE events). While I've been told that there is no change in the dyno numbers between the OEM & the drilled OEM, it SEEMS like there is a better throttle response. (Not sure if this is wishful thinking on my part *G*) That's the problem w/ the 'butt-dyno' v. real data acquisition.
