Finally: ready to share and drive my Xmas present
My air cooled search ended in December, when I closed the deal on 89 Coupe. It's a 62K mile, 2 owner (PO owned 20 yrs), nicely optioned, stock, w/upgraded AC, grey metallic/tan, coupe.
Thanks to those who helped with the purchase and subsequently, the advice on dialing it in. I didn't realize it would take until spring, but I was in no rush. Special thanks to Ed Hughes and Jon Mitsuuchi whose help and advice was invaluable.
Work since acquiring:
Lowered & Balanced - a fraction lower than ROW. It came 4 fingers high, so big difference here.
Front Strut Torsion Bar
Bought 7x16 Fronts
Refinished Rims: 7/8 x 16's refinished to factory look by Al Reed
New Door Sills: old ones had shrunk
New Battery: installed per "cutting board" post
New Mats: Black w/Carrera Script in Tan
Lube: Oil & Tranny
Mom say's the next dollars are going to upgrading the stereo. What should I expect from water cooled driver. Any suggestions not going out of factory holes/specs would be appreciated.

Thanks. The color was the icing on the cake for me. We have a Black 997, and had a Red 997.
Just learned yesterday that one should always travel with a fistful of Fuses!

rw229 - I know when you are done it will be dialed in !! I still have the "what if's" about your last track weapon. While I had no timeline, I wanted to make sure the car was OK from a safety standpoint, bushing/bearings/leaks etc. It all checked out OK, with one very minor exception. So my dollars went to cosmetic changes. While this is no Barrett-Jackson car, I REALLY appreciate it when the say "that was a steal, as you wouldn't want to restore this one yourself".
Thanks PorscheONut (I equally enjoy looking, tinkering & driving) and jclanin - (did you see my signature? I tell every 993 owner with a dialed in car to NEVER sale) .

Great colour, and Al did a fantastic job on your wheels.
I picked up a reasonably good set of 7s & 8s a short while ago, and I think you just made my mind up regarding the question of refinishing or not.
Now go get some new lug nuts ;-)
