Targa Seal install
I am going to install new OEM seals for the Targa roll bar and windshield. Pics are below. I bought 4 plugs and the seals on Pelican parts and want to know if the Wurth rubber glue is the way to go and any other tips you guys have for me. I've never done this before......

I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive. But, you are going to have to shave those gaskets quite a bit to get your top on. I'd see about sending them back and calling Dan @ Cars Inc for gaskets. He's THE Targa guy. Just my suggestion.
The OEM gaskets are not the same as what came on the cars.

Dan reproduced the original seal for the 911s. The Pelican seals are 964 versions and are sold as fitting our cars...... Which they don't.
Call Dan. Here's his website: http://www.carsincnj.com/

Thanks for info, but as far as the windshield seal you guys are saying needs to be modded. That is only true for 86-89. Below is from Pelican's website, so I assume mine should be a non issue since it's a 84! It also looks a little different in appearance(shown below) from the 3.2 seal I bought.
As far as the Targa bar, I see no notes and you guys don't meant that one is an issue, correct?
This is a very common replacement seal on the 911. This is the seal that runs across the top of the windshield, and also down the sides. It is a one-piece seal that often breaks in to three pieces at the corners of the windshield.
The seal for Carrera 3.2 (1986-89) cars is no longer produced. But the later 964 seal can be made to fit with some modifications. See this article for details.

I believe that to be erroneous information. I had the problem on my '84. To my knowledge, they are all the same seals. Some of the hardware changed over the years, but the windshield frame, and the tops are the same. Once again, call Dan @ Cars Inc-he will give you all you want to know on Targa tops.

My understanding is that the 964 version is too big.
Anyone know of the actual dimensional differences?
I'm getting close to needing new seals and am wondering if a little DIY hot wire trimming of the foam would be worth trying with the more easily available and I'm assuming therefore much cheaper seals?
Could it possibly be that easy?

well i just ordered the whole set for 288 including the two side pieces. Not sure of the quality yet. The part numbers listed were those of the original 911 parts not the 964 parts so we will see.
