April 5 Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the
inventor of the 911 sportscar, has died, aged 76, Porsche AG
said in an e-mailed statement today.

A sad day indeed. He was a major player in the 901 (911) project. The cars we all love may not have come to be without his work. Rest in peace.

What a great legacy to have. There has never been a car that inspired so many people for so many years. Several generations of pundits have predicted the end to the 911, but it lives on. I am glad he lived to see one of his cars exceed the $1M mark at auction (the Steve McQueen 2.4S)
