Default seat back adjuster busted

seat back adjuster (manual) on my 78 sc stays up and won't return to the down position. Therefore can't put seat back forward. do i take the whole seat out and look where a wire or cable may have come off? thanks

I have the Sport seats, and I replaced the seat release cable once before.

The seat back adjuster should be a dial adjuster with a ****.

No, there's a cable that runs down the outer length of the seat back, and it pulls up on the seat release. You might have a broken cable. You'll find all the cable parts you to fix it need at a decent hardware store.
