It would be nice to see the comeback of the true Targa top! One that completely comes off!

if i remember correctly, the painted wheels came on the weissach special edition cars however the wheel ceter color matched the exterior color of the car.

champagne exterior had the same color used on the wheel centers. silver exterior had the silver colored centers.

Patina is my vote.

Sometimes when I go to vintage car shows - and I mean pre-WWI cars - a running car with the original paint almost worn all the way off always looks much cooler than the same model with a $10k Imron paint job....

My car and it's wheels have the Weissach gold metallic. Here are some pics for you:

The gold weissach wheels were on both colors of the weissach I believe, and they were 15" and also had white "lips". The 16s on w00ts car may be considered "body color" as opposed to weissach, albeit the same color. Like the OPs car; w00t's Carrera(supremely so) is a beautiful coupe. w00t, remind me, do you have sport seats?
I'm glad you checked in w00t. I hope all is well with you and your's. Is the service you had to your car been satisfactory? By service, I mean the time you met with Ivangene. We havn't heard from ivangene in a while and I've wondered what he's up to. Scott C has been absent for a while too.

Whalebird I wish I had sport seats. Thats the single best option on a 3.2 IMO. There was one car that I looked that had both LSD (don't know how both it would have held up after all these years) and sport seats but as you know I wanted an all original car and that car had it's front resprayed due to rock chips. So I passed on that one. I have not heard from Ivangene for quite sometime. Will drop him an email tonight. I have been very busy at work running two practices 140 miles apart. I have posted in the 997 section recently

But you do know that you guys in this section are closest to my heart. I am not kidding.

Howdy Amar! Long time, no see. I'd forgotten about Ed, he has been gone from here quite a while.

Ed, you know my situation. I am still continuing the balancing act between Seattle and Yakima. Good thing my car is 4-wheel drive. Did get together with a few other men with wide a$$ed cars in Western Washington and as you know me... Just had the camera handy for a quick shoot. Sargepug, I apologize if I am encroaching on your thread, I can delete the pics if you feel that way.

Were the "lips" actually painted white? Never seen the lip painted on any factory Fuchs wheel. Only anodized aluminum or polished. I can make out "Wheel Cntr/white gold metallic" on the window sticker, but nothing about other bits of the wheel painted as an option.

I read this with interest as my 1986 Porsche M491 Cabriolet has these optional wheels code #485. They are 7" and 9" on my car. My car is Black with Champagne full leather interior with Champagne coded wheels. I would be happy to send any interested person photos. I have owned many 911's over the years, never seen these.
