Question How rare are SC coupes without sunroofs?

Does anybody have the number of sunroof deletes produced? (By year in US and ROW would be great.)

How much more can I expect to pay for one than for an SC with a sunroof?

I thought most of the ROW's did not have sunroofs? Good question, I wonder what percent of the ROW's had sunroofs. I have a non-sunroof ROW 911SC.

Does anybody have any pointers for where I could find the answer to my first question about numbers produced?

I don't think it is really a "delete" so much as an option (like 16" wheels) that came on pretty muce every US car. Pretty rare except for Euros.

Sorry, I haven't been able to find any numbers on that. As Chris wrote, it was not a "delete" on the SC, it was an option. The vast majority of U.S. models came with it, but it was not standard. Many of the RoW model SC's don't seem to have it, so you might have to settle for a grey market car.

I don't think a non-sunroof car is worth any more, in fact it may be worth less. The RoW models are certainly worth about 20% less than an equivalent U.S. model.

I had searched far and wide for my SC coupe and I recall every coupe had a sunroof.

That's not really true. Racers are always looking for non-sunroof coupes. I would be willing to pay more just so I didn't have to fool around with a leaking, complicated sunroof.

Non-sunroof coupes offer more headroom too. Nice feature for tall people.

John Adams,

More headroom is my main reason for wanting one, I'm 6'5". Do you know how much more head room you got with yours?

I'm 6'4" and with a helmet on, I still have about 2 inches of head room.

Bagger, do you still want me to measure it or is Steve's 2" of head room good enough? I am 6' 2" and my friend is 6' 6", he fits in the car with no problem.

Steve:

For racing, a non-sunroof car is certainly preferred -- for weight saving reasons as well as for head room. All the same, I don't think you should be paying any more for a non-sunroof 911SC, because all you'll likely find are grey-market cars, which are always worth a bit less.

John Adams,

If you could measure it easily, that would be great. Here is why:

1. How much head room that a given person has in the coupe without the sunroof is only partly interesting because that person could have a longer or shorter torso than me.

2. What is more useful would be knowing the difference in head room for a given person between an SC coupe with a sunroof and an SC coupe without a sunroof. I know how much headroom I have in an SC coupe with a sunroof (not enough). So if I knew that without the sunroof a given person gets say 1.5" more head room, THAT would very useful.

Another way to get a little more head room is to install one piece racing seats. The extra height gained varies seat to seat, but im sure you could get quite a bit more headroom with this install.
