I have Bentley and 101 Projects. In fact, I have a spare copy of Bentley as the PO gave me one and I had purchased one before I got the car. PM me.

Oops, sorry. I already ordered the Bentley and 101 Projects before I saw your post. I appreciate it, though.

I will.

I found where the seller had stashed a surprise for me under the floor mat: the original owners manual, warrany book, Haynes manual, and almost every receipt showing all the service going back to when the car was bought new on Dec 24, 1983! ONE OWNER, CA only, other than the dealer who bought it from him in Nov, 2011, and then sold it to me.

I feel better now, only now I have been scheduled to work 12 hours a day all week.

Beautiful color. You dont know this now, but you are being brainwashed and no other car will effect you like your first 911. If you understand what these cars are all about, it will have a mystical hold like no other car will. I am totally serious. Welcome to our cult....I mean club.

Thanks. I probably would have had a Porsche long ago, had my mother not freaked everytime the word was mentioned. I think she was affected a lot by James Dean's death, so she thinks every Porsche is out to kill the driver. As a matter of fact, I haven't told her about this one yet. I wonder how long before the GF spills the beans?

Speaking of the GF, she is not a gearhead, buy I have got her hooked on the original BBC Top Gear. When they showed some vintage autocross, she thought it was cool, so the plan is to get the 911 in good enough shape to try some Solo and autocross, assuming I can find a club that actually has events.

She's a beauty Doc! Love that color! Post some more pics, such as interior, engine bay, etc etc.
How many miles?

I did not know beans about Porsche when I bought mine. I have had a few repairs but nothing really serious. Porsche people have looked and told me I got a good car. So even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then....

Thanks. The interior is standard black. Looking throught the receipts breifly, the original owner had the drivers seat redone a few years back. Carpet on passenger door and rear seat area is very sunbleached. Dash has a cover, but doesn't look too bad. Radio is Blauplunkt tape deck with removable face plate. Is that original?

Odometer shows 229,573 miles. My first car, a 1965 Pontiac LeMans got a replacement motor at 95k miles. My second car, a 1970 Datsun 240Z, lasted 140k miles before I got tired of trying to keep it running, and put it in the garage. Porsche motors must be amazing.

I've GOT to get underneath this thing soon, the suspense is killing me.

Nice looking car, congrats! I'd think there's a very good chance that paint is original. Looks like you have 7" and 9" Fuchs too, which is a nice bonus. Hope it treats you well!

Thanks all. Work is still killing me with 12 hour days, so I have only driven it the 2 miles from dropoff point to home.

This weekend it's supposed to rain.

Can someone steer me towards what I can do to make this car ride and handle best, yet still keep it legal for SCCA & PCA Solo and Autocross? I know I want to change the steering wheel and shifter and shocks for a start.

check out Elephant Racing's website. The folks at Smart Racing Products are also very very helpful, and have been a blessing to me. Also, check out Steve Weiner's shop. Logical starting point would be a driving class, a copy of the rulebook, then hit the parts stores.

SCCA car classing rules are confusing as hell. Can't change an airbag equipped steering wheel until Street Prepared? Sheesh.

SP, here I come.
