It has been 4k miles since I started the aces IV additive and here is what I've noted.
My gas mileage is up an average of 3 mpg.
Mt oil consumption is now 600 plus miles per qt where before it was less than 600 mpq. It has stabilized and now always gets me 600 plus miles...635, 625 etc. before was 600, 585, 580.
My driving habits are the same. I know have 221465 k miles on the car.
This isn't science but a simple log and seat of the pants...the car is pulling strong and I've had no mech issues in 7 k miles altogether.
This stuff is an upper engine lube (cylinders, valves) added to the fuel. Also known to clean carbon deposits.
I'm using it at full rec strength of 1 oz per 6 gallons. I've read where the same benefits can be gained by halving that to 1 to 12.
Anyways, in my opinion it seems to at least do no harm and at best slow down wear and clean the upper end (valves) enough for a better seal.

One year on the '83 911 SC. I've put 8k miles on the car now at 223,580 miles. I've added nothing but done the basic maint. Engine has never been opened up. PPI with a leak down of 4 to 6 per cylinder @ 215K all head studs in place.
I took it to Jack at Stuttgart South West in Phx today, great indy shop with excellent reputation.
I burn some oil about 1 qt to 5-600 miles depending upon my right foot. Lots of folks say that's rebuild time so I wanted a pro's thoughts.
I wanted him to drive it to see what he thought about rebuild time...I've only owned this 911 so no comparative experience to go on...was it tired etc? Wanted a pro opinion so I could plan my rebuild or whatever.
We road tested the car and he told me it outpulled the majority of SC's he's driven (30 years in the business)...sounded great, only smoked when we pulled 4 to 5 k rpm in 2nd/3rd then let off quickly...so some guide wear only he suspects.
He told me to just drive it and come back in 5 years for another test run!
He said "so it burns some oil, put oil in it...it runs great".
So I am one happy camper and am glad I was not scared off by high miles in a well documented and cared for car.
I have no idea if the ACES4 has helped but it has not hurt for sure.....Jack was very impressed by the acceleration and pull...better than the majority of SC's he's driven with much less mileage....so I'm going to cont using the stuff and we'll see about oil usage over the next few years.....not a 20k Porsche yet knock wood.

yeah looks like your oil consumption is the same or a tad more from the start. I agree with the assessment of add oil. Oil is cheaper than metal so you can put an awfull lot of oil in for the cost of a rebuild. If the car runs great and ur plugs arent fouling just keep driving it. I think when its rebuild time it will be painfully obvious...

Never fouled a plug, starts on the first twist, idles nicely at 950.....I am amazed at how robust the 3.0 is at this mileage.
I will rebuild when the time comes.
Rebuilding the brakes now...stopped great but the rotors were almost out of spec. So, new rotors, flex hoses and am rebuilding the calipers. I think about 350 in parts.

if your thinking of puting shock inserts in the front now is the time. You can swing the front strut out from under the fender with ease to replace the insert with the flex line on the brakes disconnected.

Good sugestion but too late. The shocks are good tho, the PO was pretty meticulous on changing out the wear out items.
When I pulled the calipers the brake pads were barely worn....it was the discs that prompted the rebuild and might as well change out the hoses...hard to tell age on those things.

The rotors were maxed out...there was a lip on the edge that made getting the calpiers off dif....ground a path. I don't quite get the hard line, flex hose, then hard line again. Makes simple caliper deals a bit of a pain up front. I'll bleed everything when my assistant gets home from work

Well, passed 1/4 million miles today on the unopened original motor
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...1/IMG_0622.jpg

My last miles per quart check was over 750 mpqt. It has been improving incrementally of late. When I first started using the ACESIV I noted I burned quite a bit of carbon (smell) along with the oil. Now not so much carbon smell. I'd get in 585 to 600 mpqt range.
Whatever it is over the last 3 months specifically I've been averaging much better mpqt....presently about 175 more miles per. Whatever is is I'm liking it.
I started the Aces at 217,465 miles and in the total 10k miles I've put on the car (got the car at 215K) in 14 months the oil usage has stabilized and in the last 3-4 k miles actually improved.
My guess would be it has allowed better valve sealing thru carbon removal and the upper end lubricity has seriously reduced further valve guide wear (what it claims to do).
Unscientific but that's my SWAG on it.
I'm not sure that you'd see degradation in 10k miles but I did not expect an improvement.
Any thoughts on this or similar experiences would be of interest.
Has anyone had their car improve mpqt over time rather than not?
