Roll Cage Install

Roll Cage Install
We are moving a roll cage from one chassis to another. The new one is a 79 SC Coupe. Anyone know where we can get a mounting/backing plate kit? We can cut out the old one but that is a PITA. Don't know what brand it is, but it spilts at the top just ahead of the rear roll bar portion and has bolt in side bars.
TIA!

It was a 84, owned by a guy named Tannler here in Mpls. Had been set up for club racing. The stock engine is being rebuilt. A new mounting kit and a set of the slip tubes are what we are interested in.
Thanks!

That cage was sold 03/01/99. From the pics it looks like the joining sleeves that connect the rear and front sections are cut. Were they welded or was it just bolted? We no longer sell cages or have any mounting parts for them. The sleeves, as is the entire cage are DOM and the cage tubing is 1 1/2 X .120 wall tubing. The sleeves are easy to make. After cutting hone them so they slip on easily. In order for the cage to be mounted correctly it will need the mounting plates reproduced. Without them, the mounting points won't line up.

Thanks, yeah we had to cut the sleeves to get it out. I guess we'll fire up the plasma and cut out the old plates. Finding new sleeves should not be too hard.
Other than being a bit lower, is there any real reason not to just weld it in?

The mount plates could be cut and bent fairly easy. Then just weld them to the chassis and then weld the cage to them. I wouldn't try to duplicate the plates with the nuts on the bottom as it could be a lot of time/work.
Sorry we didn't have the parts. I wish we still had the cages to sell, but the new owners of the shop we used locally vanished, with the custom jigs and other info needed to make the cages and I just couldn't locate another company to start over on them. They did great work, just didn't know how to run a business.
