Need opinion on Sale
Hi Folks - I've decided to sell my 1985 Carrera 3.2 to move to the 993 platform. Please help me to determine if I'm pricing the vechicle fairly (I'm asking $25K). Here are the details:
1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2
49K miles
Guards Red exterior / Black interior
Original Paint in excellent condition
All numbers matching
No accidents (except for a bumper scuff which was taken care of)
Most records are available
Almost new tires
All services are up to date including AC system recharge
Perfect running condition.
Meticulously maintained by reputable local Porsche mechanic (references available)
Upgrades:
- Original dealer installed factory whale tail and front spoiler
- 930 steering wheel (original still available)
-Alpine stereo with Focal speakers and JL Audio amp (original radio still available)
- Cat delete with bypass pipe (original cat still available)
- Steve Wong Chip (original chip still available)
- Sports muffler (original still available)
Known issues:
- Synchros (I've decided to address this even though it's not needed right now, being fixed right now. Will address routine easy preventive items while the engine is out).
- Minor dings in door (did not want to drill into doors to fix the dings.)
- Very minor scuff marks on front driver seat (can be addressed very quickly)
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Happy holidays.

Thanks for the kind comments. The car came originally with the tail. My understanding is that it was dealer installed during the original purchase.

very fair price
especially considering you have all the stuff you changed out any way. All the modifications you made, in my opinion do not change the value of the car at all as they are functional for the most part and add to the performance/ operation of the car with out harming the original Porsche design intentions. Good luck

Funny, I sold a 993 to get back to a late model 911 because it wasnt as fun. Out off all the 911s I have owned, the 87-89 are in my opinion the zenith of the breed. As for for sale price,........that car would sell $27K-$30K in the northeast. There really isn't that many exceptionally clean 911's left.

In Europe the market value of your car is 30.000 EUR (39.000 USD), but there are taxes.
Back-calculation: 30.000 EUR minus European VAT (approx. 20%, depending on country) = 25.000 EUR, minus European Union import tax 10% = 22.272 EUR, minus registering fees and transcontinental transport ~2300 EUR = European buyer would pay max. 20.000 EUR (26.000 USD) for it in States. This really doesn't help you, but is interesting to know and shows how much the poor Europeans have to pay. The prices in US are always amazing to us. It starts with new car prices. Porsche ships new cars to US and asks considerably less than in Europe. Why? Who knows, but it has always been this way.

Correctly priced; timing not so much. Wait until March-April for best results. Also, your car is a good candidate for the mart on the PCA site. Membership is about $40/yr. and entitles you to a free classified ad. PCA members seem to prefer the clean, low mileage stock examples.
