Default You guys weren't kidding that San Francisco has rough 911's

I was actually in San Francisco twice this past month for work and had a chance to walk around for several days. There was an old post where someone mentioned that San Francisco seems to have a lot of rough 911's around. The poster was not kidding! I am not sure which model this one is. I did see a nice 3.2 Turbo buzzing around town though.

I am not so sure how they get it to pass DMV stuff out there, but hey Ok. At least folks dont beat it up more and asshats key it and that kind of thing.

It looks like a narrow body short wheel base car. Maybe a 66-68 model. The LWB with the slight fender flares came out in 1969.

That original thread was started by our own famous Ed Hughes. Actually one of my favorite threads because I know a few scrappy looking Porsches that are VERY tight underneath. In my mind it shows a commitment to keeping them on the road. Function over form. I will take a well kept(mechanically) car over a neglected POS with a new paint job any day. They are meant to be driven.

Yeah that was a good thread. San Fran also head other quirky cars. I saw some old Saabs and old Volvos I had never seen before.

Yep, that original thread was mine. That car has no smog or safety inspection requirements due to its age.

The thing that's really amazing about that DC car is that the windshield wipers don't look like they could be functional. You might be able to get away with that in San Francisco--maybe--but definitely not in DC.

A real shame, because that's a very old car--'65 or '66, no headrests.

I am guessing it was probably an 86 - 88 model. It was at a distance but it definitely had "Turbo" on the rear decklid. No way would I drive that car through downtown.

Well, there were a lot of psychidellic (sp) drugs done there in the past, perhaps you ingested some by accident?
