Your car is nice, and you might want to list it on Rennlist, Pelican, PCA and other classifieds. I know I am probabaly being biased here, but I always look at eBay cars with suspicion and I think that is where cars with "interesting" backstories tend to get sold. This might lead potential purchasers to approach the car differently than, say, if they were responding to a PCA ad. Just my $0.02.
I DO appreciate the input, very much. Part of the reason I'm a member, and posted the upgrades, inquiries, and process of bringing this car 'back' here. (Also have felt like a lazy talentless PIG when I see your incredible posts!)

But I've got time to consider. Sometimes the individually placed ads can turn into lengthy discussions, photo requests, 'Let me get back with you" or "I need to talk to my wife/neighbor/banker", or "Will you take a trade on a <flaming Corvette, sunken boat, deranged monkey?>". Those just wear me out.

I've had okay results on ebay, buying and selling. (As I buyer I usually only 'locate' the car on ebay but don't engage in the auction portion.) So far - and there's always a first - payment and buyers have been swift, friendly.

On the other hand, its fraught with potential disaster. I hope the listing, photos, history, records 'demystify' the car somewhat. THANK YOU for your thoughtful post.

Hope your HUGEST PROJECT EVER is still going well! What an inspiration.

Thanks for the replies, PMs, comments. The car is quite clean and nice, very much ready to be enjoyed.

Just added a pile of new photos, information, some answers to the many questions.

Truly hope this car finds a good home, and hopefully to a Rennlister.

Wishes come true: Purchased by a Rennlister. I'll let him make his own announcement, but glad its going to a good (but currently rather frigid) home! Thanks all.

Hey Adams, very nice car and super job making it better with all the work! I read through your Ebay listing and I am curious as to what issues you had with the old ECU? Thanks.

I've been following that adventure so closely I've already packed a snack!

If you come through Alabama on either 1-85 OR 1-65, I am literally less than 8 minutes off your trek. You can take a stretch, I'll treat yall to lunch somewhere quick, and make your son look at finicky half-posessed Italian cars. This way he'll appreciate the Porsche even more.

No kidding - PM me for contact info and we'll get together if that works for you.

Other cars are (unless some of them ran away in the night!) DeTomaso Pantera, Ferrari 512BBi, Ferrari 512TR, Ferrari 328GTS, Dodge Viper GTS, Acura NSX 3.2.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, and all!

My car had, as my tech referred, a 'dead' idle circuit. He could get it to idle fine, but once on and off the throttle, it would die again. He traced it to ECU.

Further, my car had an aftermarket chip that he contended might contribute and he was unable to establish a baseline via Porsche specs. For these reasons, sent off to ECU doctor who turned around quickly, guaranteed thier work, and were super friendly.

The SECOND the new ECU was in there, the tech said the initial enrichment was better, starting was faster, injector charge pattern stronger. (My new injectors with old ECU were he said 'erratic'.) All in all, a good move and I didn't miss the chip.

Even ECU Doctors said to 'start' with a known, established baseline BEFORE going to a chip.

I somehow missed this post. I think your history of ownership and condition counts for A TON of value. The pedigree on these cars is nothing short of maniacal (like that's a surprise) so your car will do fine in that regard.

And likely, ebay isn't your best venue anyway. Yet it allowed me to move onto something else more quickly with less hassle. Getting to the point I'm 'checking cars off the list'. Just added another.

A parting shot of the 86 Carrera coupe on its way to Baltimore.

Hope the new owner says hello soon after it arrives. Thanks all.
