Default 1st Post, bought an '83 911sc Cpe

'83 SC Cpe with 214k miles. Unmodified, original paint/interior (burnt orange copper?),
PPI leak down from 3 to 6 all pots. Shifts smooth. Drives tight and fast.
No real issues except a few boots need replacing, some interior wear and the normal stone chips....AC works but not very well.
Don Jackson Porsche in Phoenix told me it is sweet.
I was nervous about the mileage but the great info on this site made me feel better and the PPI made me ecstatic.
So, getting all of the mech things done w/ tune up and filling with BPenn oil (the search button is your friend).
BTW, bought the car below blu book as the only records (came from Cali) indicate a clutch change at 200k.
Mech says the cases look like they've never been split but the heads have been off (ergo the leak down) and he is certain the tranny's been redone due to its smoothness.
I know nothing about 911's and this site helped me out greatly (lurking) in my choice. Thanks for all of the well articulated knowledge.

Congrats. You can have a PDR man remove most, if not all, of the chips to freshen up the nose. You will love the car.

Pelican parts, here you come . . . They have tons of parts you can swap out to clean up what you need. I'm sure there are several more places as well.

Enjoy

Did you purchase this car from Alan @ Arizona Muscle? If so, we should talk.

Yup, I did but only after a test drive/ full PPI and then the haggling....I'm pretty happy.
Also contacted the shop in Cali where the car was maintained and talked to the mech there.
Alan is a used veh purveyor but he was up front in providing me with contact info to the cars past....
Now if someone bought online w/o inspection test drive etc I def get your drift.

Congrats. Ditto to your comment on the help afforded those of us with little to no knowledge of 911's. Look forward to seeing you here on the list!

I purchased from Alan online (he is in Arizona and I live in Denver). Also, I did get a PPI at DJ Porsche. My problem is that the PPI was vastly different then my post-PPI (and not for good), Alan's not relaying information on the maintenance documentation and some other misc. items. Caveat emptor, buyer beware.

Regards,

Chuck
