Default suspension upgrades for street early 911

I am going to upgrade my '69E, currently stock w/ old Koni's and no sway bars. I am asking for thoughts on what would be a good system that will let me be comfortable on the street but want to enjoy a little more stable feel to my ride. No track but maybe a DE out of curiosity. I want to lower it about an inch as well. I am keeping the 14" Fuchs. What upgrades do you listees think will make my "E" a little more fun?

I'd go with the shocks and perhaps t-bars of your choice. I can advise on what I like on my '84, but not on what would be good on your lighter car. I will say that you should redo your bushings front and rear, as they will go a long way to stability. In other words, don't just stop at shocks and lowering.

as much as I love upgrades...I would upgrade to a FRESH STOCK set up - that car is really nice when its set back to fresh, no need to get carried away....new factory equivalent parts will make a big change - and if you dont post some pics we wont know how else to help you

How about a custom Bilsten RSR coilover set up?

I have an amazing coilover set up. Beware however that there are fitment issues with the rear and you may have to go with inverted coil overs. You must also reinforce the rear shock towers. If you stay with torsion bars I ran 23/31 with indexed shocks and upgraded suspension parts and sway bars. It all depends on what you are going to do with the car. I drive mine on the street and on the track.

My supposition is he isn't looking to go to coilovers or heavy t-bars such as the 23/31 suggested. There are a ton of ways to upgrade and still keep it comfortable.

JMO, but I'd install some slightly larger torsion bars, new Koni's or Bilsteins, new rubber A-arm, and spring plate rubber bushings. Add factory swaybars with new bushings and you're done.

You can do Turbo tie-rods if your current ones are worn out.

That makes an excellent package for these cars.

new bushings (neatrix, Elephant racing), shocks and alignment is def a must... these are equal or slightly better than stock. I would start there and drive it for awhile.... if you think you need more... bigger torsion bars, sway bars.

For lowering, do the turbo tie rods as mentioned with lowering spacer kits.

I have Koni's - I have a light car (2300 lbs) - I would probably recommend upgrading the TB to 22/28 (mine are 22/30)
I personally HATE rubber bushings on these cars - If you are going to have it apart - do either the elephant racing polybronze or rebel racing. Maybe that's because I've pulled (OK burned) the deformed rubber off a few cars.

I think for the money - at least a rear sway (tarrett) would be a good addition.

Would definitely make it more sporty...
