I just know that I have to have mine before I am 40.

Looking back, I have always been much happier buying the car I wanted rather than the pratical car that I needed.

The SC is a great car though. Enjoy!

I'm a 46 y.o. dentist who was "bitten" by the P-bug at the early out of school age of 29. Although it was only an under powered 4 banger 912 I knew it would lead to a turbo 911 some day. Ever since my oral surgeon who took out my wisdom teeth in 1974 said he wasn't willing to spend the extra bucks and go for the turbo but instead go for the N/A model. They were great looking cars then and are now. A year ago I got my 1991 Turbo, a real red rocket. I would hate to think of life without a P-car or two in the garage. As soon as ya sell one you start wanting another,so that's why I recommend 2!!!

Yeah, my 328i conv gets more looks because it has a great paint job. My SC is copper brown metallic. A nice color but there's a silver turbo-look SC and an R-Gruppe type 911 in my little town that is more striking. Wouldn't trade mine for theirs though. I think targas are the coolest!!!!

Im 24 years old (and on my second Porsche, hows that for a start?) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Bought an 87 951 as my "first sports car" at 19 and the 3.2L in January.

I was "taken" by P-cars when I was around 7-8 years old - long story short - Disney released a movie called "Condorman" in which all the "bad guys" drove black/black 930's. Aside from that, the first time I heard a 911 start up is what did me in.

My father was very opposed to me buying a 911 at 19 - said I'd kill myself. I took his advise and much to his satisfaction, recently admitted he was right. The 951 kept me out of an aweful lot of trouble.

Both cars are awesome, but in different ways. The 951 was far and away the better performer, but the feel of the 911 is something that pulls you in.

Im working in insurance right now, an International Casualty and Property Adjusting and Surveying firm based out of London - obviously we're the US office. Its a pretty good gig. Affords me plenty of cash to feed my P-car habit and the work is interesting (where else can you get calls from employees telling you they are to remain in a South African jail until a claim is paid?

My plan in the next five years is to have a decent enough amount of money saved up/available to me through lenders and investors to buy and run a small business. The only downside is my age... its tough to get people to take you seriously in this endevour when youre under 30.

I'm new to this board, been spending more time on the Pelican boards.

My 78 SC has owned me now for over a year. Sunroof coupe with factory a/c, 232k km (140k miles for the metrically challenged).

I'm 43, and work as corporate technology mananger for a steel producer in South Africa. Married, with 3 kids. I have been fascinated with the different views on financing of assets including cars being espoused here. When I was younger, my dad tought me to only go into debt when purchasing real estate. I have not always been able to do that, because how else should a young person buy a car if you have little cash reserves? Anyway, I am very blessed today to have no mortgage on our house and to have paid cash for all my cars. Well, to be honest, the 530i BMW has a smallish financed component, but this is useful for tax purposes down here. Also, the rate is prime less 5%! I hope to never finance anything else apart from utilising home equity financing when needed for a new home which we are considering. I have had many cars, including pickup trucks, minivans and sensible family sedans. Always been a BMW fan, with some itching for the Porsche bug.

Take care! <img border="0" alt="[byebye]" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" />

i'm 37 and bought my '95 carrera a year and a half ago. When I was 13 i got chickenpox and was not allowed out of the house for 3 weeks. A guy used to park next to our house in a blue 911 everyday and I used to wait for him arrive and stare for hours at it. When I got older my love affair grew until I started reading about them about ten years ago. When I felt I knew everything there was to know I felt secure in buying when I was finally in a postion to scratch my 911 itch. Knowledge is my biggest ally in maintaining my p-car (hail rennlist!). I have grown to love getting underneath her and getting oily!!!
