Default Tails!

I have seen many varients on this site and was curious to shake the numbers out. This is in no way posted to start a pissing match of which looks better, to each his own. This is just about the poll and pics are also welcome!

I have always thought that narrow body 911s look so classy with no tail at all if they are street cars. I like the look of duck tails on track cars. For the vote, I chose "none."

I agree when my car was a street vehicle, preferred w/out spoiler. and still is.

was intending to put a duck on my DE/track 911. but saw a first gen GT3 lid/wing on Getty's web site.

at Midohio last weekend. the more I looked at these the more I liked the idea, especially for my Targa. paint lid body color and wing in black to match my roof.

so many options .....

just thinking... I was looking at a few GT3 at the track.

having trouble imagining what it would look like on my car with the wing in black. the issue that got me thinking when I saw on Getty's site is my car is a Targa. and like the idea of being different.

would never consider on a coupe or CAB.

I have no doubt I like the look of a duck tail on my car, and less that half the cost.

Whatever the look, a tail on a 911 is functional, even on street cars, IMO. Unless you drive it like a Cadillac.

Targa = carrera
Coupe(narrow) = no tail
Turbo/WB = Early Turbo

My vote is no tail as the 901 was originally penned, but certainly accept the tail as the car developed.

I was told the carrera tail really doesn't do much until about 125 mph, except ruin that gorgeous fastback profile...

i'm imagine there will be some debate on that.

I would contest that, a 911 benefits from negating lift in the mid-80'smph range by my not-so-scientific evaluation. I think a tailess 911's stability degrades starting about then. I started tailess, went to OE Carrera, and landed on duck. Either of the two tails offered up a big improvement.

The duck helped further with substantial weight savings.

I loved the whale tail in the 80s when I was a kid. Now I much prefer the classier fastback look, for my tastes. The tail is little bling-y for this fellow!
