Default Speedo not working- need advice.

Hey guys, my speedo died on my 84 carrera and would like to troubleshoot and fix. I reset the trip meter on day before a road trip, arrived and noticed it is not working. Reads speed but not mileage. Any ideas...? Thanks in advance

Cheers Mike

Mike,

If it displays speed but the odometer isn't working, thats an internal problem and the unit should be sent off to North Hollywood Speedometer for repair.

The issue is stripped gears.

What Steve said. It's the nylon gear that they replace it with. The old gear dries out and crumbles. The turn around is like 72 hours. At the same time I took all my gauges out and them cleaned and replaced all the red gauges.

If it is just the ODO here's the $25 part:

I replace mine and it really wasn't that bad. He's got good instructions on the site. Just takes some patience.

JC, I read those instructions when my odo stopped working, but for me, it was worth it to have an expert do the work. I was also concerned I might break something.

Mike, last year I had the same issue. Sent my Speedometer to North Hollywood Speedometer and they fixed me right up. Quick service, odo has worked fine since, and they also calibrated my speedometer for me which I have confirmed via GPS that it is spot on.

Indeed it is delicate work. But I wanted to tackle it and was able to do so.
