What did Porsche pot around the upper shock mounts (in the trunk) that shows cracks in pic #10 above?

not sure what you are asking, but it is sealant for the alignment screws. I believe it is just for some water proofing.

Suspension and brake R&R are two of the most rewarding and fun DIY projects on these cars, next to an engine rebuild.

I agree Ed, If you have the time and want to save some $$$, these projects are very satisfying... as for the engine rebuild. One day....

More progress....

Need new bushings.

3 vise grip later…. separating TB and spring plates. Hammering out the vise grip to separate the 2 pieces.

Cause of sloppy suspension….

Cutting the 25 year old bushing.

ready for epoxy….

when inserting the new bushings with epoxy on the plate and rubber…. give it some twist while pushing it down.

all mounted up with new to me 30mm Hollow TB.

Now for some new bushing on the trailing arm.

Pry off the old bushings….. when doing so you will be left with a shell that is stuck on the trailing arm…. use a hack saw to release the stress of the pressed shell…. you don't have to cut very deep, just enough to loosen it up….like this.

Press in the new bushings.

Up next…. rear shocks, engine, tranny mounts and adjusting ride height...

Great pics. Did this job once myself. Looking back it was fun, though there were some frustrating times, mainly due to siezed nuts/bolts. Once you get past that, it all goes back together very easily and logically.

Memories....

I believe you're going to find the car to be underdamped with the new tbars. I'd spend the money now to have Bikstein valve the shocks to match. Sure, it will drive ok, but if you ever do revalve, you'll wonder why you waited so long-it will be that much of an improvment. I think it's only about $100 per shock.
