Thinking of "Ducking" the Carrera
I have a standard deck lid on my '87 currently. Over the years, the ducktail look has really grown on me. It's got me thinking of putting one on my car. Where's a good place to buy one? Who's got the best quality fit and finish?
Thanks in advance.

This is my 76 911S when I bought the car and a few weeks after I added the duck. I say 100% do it, but the Carrera script is a must! I went with Getty, from Pelican. I moved my black vent grill to the new trunk lid, but two of the four mounting holes are deeper than the standard deck lid and the standard mounting screws will not work. I am still trying to find longer screws for the grill, it only makes a rattle when I shut the lid.

You won't want a Carbon Fiber tail, if they offer it-unless you plan on keeping it bare. CF is a bitch to paint and hide the weave. The Getty required almost no prep or fitment, hence their reputaion.
Personally, I think the script looks OK on the narrow body cars, but isn't needed with the flares on an 80's Carrera.

I bought the one on my "83 SC" from MA Shaw but as some have said Getty and Shaw are the same. Installation was a snap, 30 minutes after taking it out of the box ( and the shipping box was excellent) I had it on and the lid closed and latched. Outstanding quality from either of these venders... and yes the 911 looks great with a duck, never a fan of the whale tail.

I went with the Getty glass. I was told by other PCA guys to stay away from the carbon. It fit very nice, had it bolted up and latched on the way to paint. They fitted it better (he only had to sande one upper corner) and added the Carrera emblem for $ 200. Very happy, and had some touch up paint to boot.
