Default A note about ties for newbies

Neck ties, that is. It has probably been covered here and should be common sense but, make sure you secure yours (if you are unlucky enough to be wearing one) when you check your oil. Saw mine dangling dangerously close to belts and fans this morning...

That would not have been a good thing. Not at all. Keep that tie stuffed into your shirt, or better still, don't check your oil with a tie on.

Better yet, don't wear a tie. Ever.

I am organizing a Hamptons wine run for the weekend of the 30th. A friend is actually coming from Downtown B'klyn amongst others. Would be great for you to run w/ us! I keep the 3.2 out there year round.

Sounds like fun. I am alone with my 15 year old son this month and every night he says, "lets go for a ride in the Porsche." Taking him to the Metro NY PCA BBQ this Saturday. I'll be the short guy with the tall son.

E.R. Dr. - So tell me again how you got these laserations on your face and this large lump on your head?

Robey - I was checking the oil in my car

E.R. Dr. - did you find the missing tooth? Again, you were checking the oil...did the hood fall on your head?

Robey - No the alternator pulley grabbed my tie and sucked me in

E.R. Dr. - seriously, are you telling me you tried to check the oil while the motor was running?

Robey - I have a Porsche, I just got it

E.R. Dr. - AWE, you're one of "those guys"... I dont know if you're gonna like hearing this, but that car will be the death of you

Robey - tell me about it

LLOL - Literally Laughed Out Loud

To be honest, my first concern was that I might hurt my engine. Then when I got to thinking about it realized this could have been the latest in a long line of avoidable injuries (skateboarding, bicycle racing, dirt biking, kick boxing, brazilian jiu jitsu,... um, checking the oil).

I drive my car to work a couple times a week and that's usually the only time I get the temps high enough to check the oil. I use the "stuff the tie into my shirt" method before topping off the oil.

I'm a stuffer, too. However, with stock AC, I usually shed that sucker BEFORE I even unlock the door,...even moreso when checking oil.

BEST!
