Driving Blind - NO headlights
so last Wednesday we had a dawn till dusk track day... I run from 5:00pm till about 9:30, rained pretty heavy at times, cold and fun. On the cool down lap I was one of 5 cars still driving so it was really important for mr to let the turn workers know how much I appreciated them standing out in the weather while I got my kick..as i passed each one I waved and flashed my headlights....
well 15 minutes later on a dark stretch of state highway, I flicked into high beam and my headlights had enough...POOF..pitch black!!
Off to the nearest offramp which happened to be right there and under the overpass..check the fuses and consider my options...I opted to turn on the flashers and head for home...the rain had stopped and there was still a bit of twilight so FAST I went....
some reading and searching I suspected the high/low beam - blinker switch and asked around, a friend had one and gave it to me. Last night I popped it in. With beer and playing fetch with the dogs took a little over an hour, very easy, bentley explains it well, and now I have lights (yea)
I wanted to post and advise that I think flashing the headlights might be alright once or twice but to be aware it might also overheat that little switch and the switch is about $140 new from PP and if you are not a DIY guy add another 1-2 hours labor for install - I would not flash your headlights! - thry flipping the bird (I mean waving) instead
