Default Option Code Question

Probably a stoopid question, but I've got the option code 424 on my '87. What exactly is automatic heating control? I'm curious because my '88 had the heater levers down next to the base of the hand brake. Thought that was a good system. The '87 doesn't have that, just a dial. Is this related to the option code 424?

Also has LSD. Was limited slip a common/desirable option?

The auto-heat gives you 9 ranges of heat settings. As you note it is controlled by the dial between the seats. It is related to M424.

LSD, option code 220 is very desirable!
