Default Hats off to Porsche!!!!

WOW, I am really impressed!!!! I just registered my 84' Targa today and can't say enought about it and Porsche. I averaged 90 - 110+ on the freeway and it was begging for more. Must have logged over 200 miles today, under extreme 90+ humid conditions and roads. Tight as a drum and always willing to pull! Car is 27 yrs old and I obviously have a new S, yet still I am so impressed!
Bravo Porsche!!!

200 miles in a Porsche is about the best reward I can imagine for a trip to the NYS DMV. Bravo indeed.

Congrats on the new-to-you '84 Carrera.... Great find. These are truly great cars. Threads like this make me miss my '79SC even more....

Enjoy it!

Thanks guys and dead on Caferacer! I haven't been to DMV in 20 yrs! All my business vehicles are done by my employees and personal cars are always new. Nothing has changed, still a 3rd world nightmare!

as nice as your new "S" is I bet you find the 84' more and more enjoyable to drive. They make great grocery getters...night out with the wife (or other) and make the drive to work seem way too short even in moderate to heavy traffic....a pure joy on the road at any speed

Indeed. I went to Herald Square on a Monday morning and read most of the Sunday Times while I waited. By the time I left they were turning people away. Imagine running a business like that.

I had to go to the NJ DMV twice in consecutive weeks a few weeks ago--once to get the 911 inspected and once to get my license renewed. At the inspection station they know my car by now, as I've had it 11 years and have always gone to the same place. Kinda fun in a way. But it's gotten much slower, and the line longer, as the cutbacks have taken hold. This was the week after our governor's helicopter stunt, so you can imagine the jokes.

The license outing was more troubling. They line people up outside before letting them in. At least it was summer. I waited for two hours, and was the lucky to be last person admitted, with about 30 turned away. It used to be that if you were on line at a NJ DMV before closing, you got service, but not anymore, as budget cuts have eliminated all overtime.

By the way, when I lived in Manhattan, that Herald Square DMV was incredibly efficient. Sorry to hear it's now like all the others.

To be fair, I observed countless customers who were unprepared when they got to their window by not having all of their documentation or the right forms filled out. This slows the process considerably and is not necessarily the fault of the DMV. My transaction was quick and the young lady did a great job. I allowed her to finish her text when I approached the window and this may have helped.

get it on the track - they are in their element. Sort of like that moment you take the lead off the dog at the dog park - woo woo.

Your correct! You really "drive" the 84', where as my new S takes much less attention and effort to drive.
