Default Pet Owners and Your 911

I have a 2000 911 2+2 coupe and a recent addition to my family. I have a german car and now a 9 week old german dog. Does anybody have any ideas on how to protect my beautiful seats from my beautiful Standerd Schnauzer?

welcome to RL

note the sign on the door that said "air-cooled" and "911"

you are in the wrong neighborhood my friend, danger lurks in these parts! - look here's what you do, go back out and continue on down the list to where it says "water cooled" and the "996" (aka 2+2 )

as fer the dog, its a car....not a life - which do you prefer?
get some aftermarket seats and store yours till the day you are ready to sell the car

I have a two part solution. One is that I generally try to drive my other car if I'm going to have the dog. I don't think it's fair to throw her around the way I would if I drove the 911 the way I like to drive the 911. She doesn't really understand sports cars.

The second is that if I must drive her in the 911, I put her in the back seat. First, I'm not so worried about the effects of her nails on that surface, which I think is vinyl (or the quaint leatherette) and not leather as in front, and second, in the event of an accident, she'd be safer back there. The same would be true in your airbag equipped car (mine's an '88). She's been in my car enough times that she now knows to jump right into the back seat. Of course, I have a small enough dog that she can sit up in the back.

Back seat with seat backs down. Nice flat surface. Small enough dog could always ride in a kennel too. My parrot did 3000 miles riding in the back of the 911 in a kennel.

Unfortunately I own Basenjis,..know frikin' way they're even getting in the car.

One could always make use of seat covers, when needed

BEST!

I have a cover specifically designed for pets on the seat/s. The rear seats in my 911 are perfect for my dog. Keeps her in place while I drive through highway on-ramps.

The way my chocolate lab sheds and drools, he only rides in the wife's Benz or my truck. I took him in the Targa around the block once-took me 1/2 an hour to clean up the slime.

FAH, Ed !!!!!!! Had he been on a 100 mile trip, you may have drowned?

I'd certainly worry about my African babies completely destroying the interior (both vinyl and leather, probably the glass will be "etched"), far cry from wiping up drool,..a no brainer for me....they're WAY TOO WILD!!!!!!! I've never even let them sniff the damned interior.......

My 1997 Nissan XE truck? No worries,..let's go!!!!!!!!!!

BEST!

Retry
Exhibit A. Note the liquid evidence on the backseat door: slobber. Heaven help the car behind them.

I tried to order the factory Porsche service seat covers from Pelican. The ones that the Porsche dealer used when they were servicing 1980s 911s. Unfortunately they are NLA....

My little urchin (white one) tracks a lot of dirt into the car. But the Cocka-Poo is too prissy to get dirty. This first pic is one of the earliest ones that I took after I bought the car. Probably a month after. I didn't have the door pockets yet, which were being made to order.

Just be sure the dog is well secured such that he doesn't end up in your lap, legs through the stearing wheel, at the worse possible time.

These two would easily take out your headliner, dash, door pockets, seats and glass ,..front AND back,...within minutes...trust me...

BEST!
