Newbie here: Help disassembling 87 Door
Hi. I inherited an 87 Carrera Cab. from my brother (he gave it to me, he's not dead), and I'm slowly trying to bring it back from the edge. He treated it generally well, but once he bought his 650i convertible, the carrera sat outside and was ravaged by the effects of the weather.
My current question: there was an incessant rattle in the driver's door. I opened it and found that the rod from the lock **** in the middle of the door was detached at the end near the door jam. Try as I might, I could not get that road back into the mechanism...just too little room to maneuver with my fat hands.
So, I looked through the forum to see if there are DIY instructions on disassembling the door, but I could find any. A lot of people have posted how easy it is to replace those little black nubs that the lock rod goes in to, but no one explains how that "easy" replacement works. Was a total beatch yesterday trying to get it to do anything. Anyone have BTDT advice.
