Default Need Help, Car Won't Start

Did a searched but to no avail.

Drove my 79 911 last Wednesday. No problem starting. Battery is 2 months old. Took the battery to Autozone and they said it checks out fine. Tried to start with lights on. They go out at 3rd click (start up). No noise other than a faint wine up front (Fuel pump maybe?). Will not jump from another car. Cables connections are clean. Cleaned and checked the neg ground. Have a trickle charger on it now. Overall, this car is a gem. I had a similar problem two months ago. Battery was 25 months old so they gave me a new one. No lights were left on. Checked relays. Any suggestions.

check the draw of the battery, if the amps are high your starter is the issue

Thanks for the input!
Update: Auto Zone said my battery was fine. Sean suggested I put a trickle charger on the the battery. Next day, started without a problem. Drove to Auto Zone who checked out the system - alternator and battery tested fine. They said I might have had a lose cable connection. So why couldn't I jump it? Car sat all day Friday. Started this morning without a problem. Lose connection, could it have been that simple?

A loose connection could cause a no start/no jump condition. Check the connections on the starter too.

I couldn't tell from your post if the battery had gone dead or if the vehicle just wouldn't crank over but an ignition switch on its way out can give you an intermitent no start condition...it can also give you an intermitent staling condition. Also check the wiring harness coming off the back of the switch, sometimes corrosion @ the terminals will overheat the wiring and cause meltdown too.
