Just got off the phone with Alonso, the GM of Sonic Plating Co Inc in Santa Fe Springs. He said he works with a BMW restoration shop that sends him work almost daily and he has parts from five 911's in the tank today. He is very familiar with what we are looking for.

I still want to see it with my own eyes, but it sounds right to me. He said I could bring him everything I could pull of my car for a job lot price around $150 but he did admit that he doesn't set the price and I'd need to talk to someone in the office.

If we send parts to be re-plated, is there any special prep work that should be done, or do the players typically dip them in a strip/cleaning bath first? I live in Dallas, and this sounds like it will be my winter project for my 87 targa.

Finally pulling the trigger on the yellow zinc.

Consider these my "Before" pictures.

I've got most of the nuts, bolts, and brackets and thought I was going to be satisfied with that for a while then I saw a craigslist ad that I couldn't get out of my head.

Do the math. I sent him a text after 9:00 last night and by 3:00 today I went to his shop and was surrounded by many thousands of fuel injectors for a wide variety of vehicles.

Anyway, that kind of seals the deal. Fuel rails will be coming off by sundown tomorrow if all goes as planned.

Einmalig has freshly plated fuel rails at $20 per side and says everything else is just as ridiculously inexpensive and should be in stock. Brian, the owner of Einmalig, says part numbers are good, but pictures are best. I'll be giving him both. ......and I'll have the parts in hand just to make sure.

So, ya.... I'm just waiting for one of you to ask me why I am getting fuel injectors for a 928 when I'm working on a 911.

Flow rate, and/or cost?

I had all kinds of hardware done for Ruby, when I redid her motor-real Cad plating, since it was Texas at the time.

His testing showed 250 +/- 1-2% but witch hunter shows that they should be at something like 238. We'll see. I talked with home for an hour about them. The real plus is the 4 hole nozzle vs the single hole the cars come with according to him. The internet seems to be tight lipped about the topic. I'll know tonight what are on the engine right now. If it has single hole nozzles and the flow rate is the same this will be a noticeable upgrade.

And price...well...hope you are sitting down. Less than $19.00 ea.

He is going to replace the single nozzle spittles on my E350 with 4 hole for $100 /set, again without cores.

His name is Gonzo and his garage is the coolest shop i have ever seen. He spins yellow top Bosch injectors on a lathe so they can be used in Toyota fuel rails. He also makes the EV1 electrical adapters. I plan on keeping in touch with him.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure you have single nozzle. I just sent my injectors to WitchHunter yesterday for test and cleaning.

The real advantage to the 4 hole pintle is greater atomization of the fuel. I figured for the price of a good cleaning I've got injectors with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. If I figure out they aren't the right ones he will swap them out for the ones that are.

Fuel injector update: It seems that the impedance of the 911 injector and the 928 injector are different. At this point I am just going to have him clean my stock injectors and see if they are still in spec.

No kidding. The real question is why is there so much bad info on the internet?

Now to the next question: What is the difference in the two terms that seem to be interchangeable but most likey are not. CAD vs Yellow Sink. Heck, throw in the term Rainbow Plating and you have the trifecta of confusion.

Cad is Cadmium and Zinc is Zinc. Cad is the "good stuff", but a no-no in Calif. Having sad that, Zinc isn't bad.
