I'm about to take apart my G50 to install new gaskets, however, the Bentley book only shows the 915 disassembly process.
I'm curious if any of you have done this and can offer any tips?
In particular, I'm wondering about the large bolt on the back of the rear case near the top, the one on the butt end of the tranny.
It cleaned up nice though...

That's funny Ed, I'm more nervous about engines than trannys, and you did a masterful job on your motor. LOL
I removed the rear cover, which answered my first question.
The bolt holds the reverse idler gear on the back side of the case.
Next little issue is getting the nut off the main shaft.
Normally I would engage two gears to lock the shafts.
I engaged 2nd gear and removed the bolt from the 5th gear shift fork so I could slide that one into gear as well.
Problem is that the fork will not slide down the shaft far enough to allow 5th to engage fully because the shaft widens slightly.
So this is how Porsche gets to sell you the special tool to lock the front of the input shaft.
Hmmm...... perhaps I can make one using the spline from my old clutch disk.
