Post Repairing chipped 2.7 magnesium case

Hello,
I chipped an edge off the case while removing
one of 4 studs that mate the engine to the transmission.

I piece I chipped has has threads that secure
the mating stud and I'm tempted to weld this piece and the re-tap the hole.

Has anyone ever welded these cases?
Can I do this with a 135 Amp MIG welder?

Any advice is appreciated.

sounds like a chunk, more than a chip. it will need to be TIG welded by someone experienced with magnesium. faced, drilled, tapped, helicoiled.
