Default sticky tires

I currently have 3 year old Dunlop "Diesarios" (Sp) on my '83 Sc and I can easily break them loose on the track. I do have a set of 16" Fuchs wheels with Michelin Cup tires for pure track. Looking for a very sticky street tire also for the track that is good wet and dry. Bridgestone RE 11's are one of my choices. Toyo RA 1 is another. Looking for options. Wheels are Fuchs 7 and 8 16 inch and tires would be 205 on the front and 225 on the rear. Also have a set of 7 & 8 Fuchs in 15 inch that can be used for autocross or short track when I want to cheaply change gearing. Ed and others please chime in. SC has some suspension improvements.

Dunlop Star Spec Z1 tires are probably within the top 3 street/auto x/ DE track tires from what I see. I am probably going to get a set for my 911. I currently have them on my 951 and they were great on
the track. Hankook and the latest Bridgestone 's are the other top choices.

I'm kinda out of the loop on the latest street rubber, as I've run R's full time for 5 years now. I run Bridgestones on the 993, and am happy with those.

I'm running 17 inch Dunlop Star Specs on my track days and i was really impressed with the grip in the wet !Looking at some Nitto NT01's for the dry when these wear out ...

Cheers!

Ed:

I think you mentioned that you are running 17" wheels on Ruby. What "R" tires. I have heard good things about Toyo RA 1 as a good street legal "R" tire

RA1's are pretty darn good. I've had a couple of sets of free Yoko AO48R's, which is what I have on. Decent tire, especially for free.

I have 6 inch fronts on 205 55 16's and 7 inch rears on 225 50 16's. I decided on the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1's yesterday and ordered them from Tire Rack. They are supposed to be delivered today! They are also running an $80 rebate on these tires so that helps.

It will be nice to get rid of the 8 year old Mastercraft's that came with the car when I bought it-LOL.

The Dunlop Star Specs have been excellent and have proven to be very worthy on the track. Please give me a call, I'd be happy to help!

Just got Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1's on the car today. They came recommended from my shop. Tire Rack's $80 rebate was a pleasant surprise.

They look pretty aggressive for a street tire.

Have a DE on weekend of the 18th and can't wait

You are going to be very surprised at how much grip they have. Good luck and enjoy

I had a set that I bought last year for rains for the race car. Never ended up using them so I mounted them on my fake Fuchs for the 930. Really nice tires.

Well 205 50 15 Toyo RA 1's are not to be found and on serious back order Dealers told me this as did Toyo USA. Looking at getting Toyo R888 comments!
