The seller did the PPI at a reputable Indy. Did a leak and compression test. I believe the engine is good. Compression 160psi; Leakdown 5% 1 thru 6
Seller did an oil change at the same time

very nice...you've been looking a while. I think you will enjoy. PICS! You dragged us through the M3 comparison, the last thing you can do is get us PICS. Cheers and congrats.

But I'd miss the open feel of a targa on a nice day. It would be nice to have one of each. A targa for the road and a coupe for the track. Unfortunately I'd also have to live in the coupe as my wife would throw me out of the house.
regarding track use, get a bolt in cage, really stiffens the chassis. NOTE: cage padding has been replaced with proper SFI (?) padding.
regarding being thrown out of the house? you can sleep in a car but cannot drive a house. of course fixed racing seats are not comfortable to sleeping, but the harnesses will hold you up ....

This may be an very vague question but I hope I can get some opinions.
Assuming we have two cars that have an identical condition mechanically and cosmetic.
The only difference is the year difference and the style.
How much more or less would you pay between the two?
1987 coupe
1988 targa

It depends entirely on the sellers skills as a salesman.

Still haven't got it plated yet since in Ontario because it is an "old" car, it needs to be appraised professionally so they can tax the purchase (higher of appraisal and actual purchase price) before they will transfer title and let me have plates. Currently on 10day Special Permit.
Then insurance I find is going to be a pain as I have read even from those in the US. Collector insurance has so much restrictions and normal insurance, I have to shop around for replacement value rather than depreciated value. My current insurance broker does not deal with older "valued" cars. Meaning they will insure it, but if anything goes wrong, likely will not get much in proceeds.
Drove it to get is safety certified and will get it appraised tomorrow. This is a great car and now I know what people are saying about the older Pcars vs the newer ones.
Compared to my 996, it's not as "fast" in acceleration and takes corners slower than the 996 (or is it my driving?). Hard to describe, both nice but different.

Must be a new policy. They took my bill of sale in US $, and taxed me on the converted amount, no questions. Whatever happened to bill of sale vs. book value, whichever is higher?

1988 I believe is higher of book value or bill of sale (almost bought an 88, hence my original title). However, I now find for 1987, MTO does not have a book value on their system or the Red Book.
Cost to get an appraiser to fill out the MTO appraisal form as well as an official appraisal report for insurance.
