but these posts are date stamped.
Let it be known form this date forward that the Secret Shifter has been developed and produced - I took the idea and ran (walked) with it
the "kit" will work for any 915 and works with factory SSK or Standard shifter - however you have to know which kit you need as they are slightly different.
Installation videos are being made
testing is complete
the whole thing requires only 2 holes to be drilled into the housing (see button head screws on side) and trimming the rubber baffle (internal) - there are no other modifications unless someone wants to tack weld on the gate tab (hose clamp supplied)
centering it very precise
spring tension is matched to the factory 5-R plane
I should have the website updated and able to take orders this week
price is $249 shipped for the kit
(includes the spring device - new pivot pin, gate, tab and tab clamp)
I will offer installation for those who wish to send me their shifters....I have several being fitted right now - this also helps me work out the logistics of installation so I can help people via email or phone calls and know exactly what they are doing to get them on track - although its pretty simple
The real appeal IMO is that once installed your original console and boot plus leather boot can be re-installed without modification and in the end the kit is invisible
that and the secure feeling of knowing exactly where your selector is - greatly reducing the chance of a money shift - these springs are much more stout than the single spring on the outside - the idea is simple - took a while to get it all worked out, CAD designed, CNC machined - anodized - then parts I was hoping to buy turned out to be NLA - so back to the drawing board - lazer cutting, heat treating ect....
the final product is a worth the work
Thanks for telling me to do it Ed H

Thanks Ed
it took me a while but I never forgot what you said - it's quite a nice set up and like mentioned WAY back the need for the ear to hold off the spring tension when in 1-2 is a MUST - so it's all in there
as for the noises of a 915 - there is something very intoxicating about the mechanical clicking into 5th gear (pawl) and back out...I really love that - has to be one of my favorite aspects of owning this car....I know it soounds a little goofy, but I just love it!!!

.. not to put a downer on things but arent you suppose to be a sponsor to do this ? .. sounds like more of a business when you are fabricating, than a guy just selling his stuff .. why not up for a basic sponsorship ?
