Default Your thoughts on this car?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/911t-...item2a0fcfe8ba

I've been casually look for a weekend driver, mostly at early 911's. Found this car locally, seems to be an interesting mix. I'm not 100% knowledgeable about early 911's so maybe you guys can help me out.

Anything I should look out for? How does this one look? Thanks!

What are you specifically looking for? Something like this I see the purchase price as only half (if that much) of what you'll end up having in the car to make it decent.

It doesn't even have stabilizer bars, not that that's a deal breaker. Nor a front oil cooler, which is mandatory for a 3.0. Just shows to me that at 40+ years, most everything out there needs a full disassembly. And it adds up beyond fast.

It sucks to see a car that is that far gone. If you can live with it or have another $20K to make it right then go for it.

WHY THE F DOES HE POST A VIDEO OF HIMSELF MISSING A SHIFT??????

I'm looking for a driver, something I can take out on weekends or drive to the office on a friday. I don't want a show queen or a perfect car that I'm afraid to drive.

Nice looking car with a bit of work. The problem is why didn't they put a front swaybar on the car, why wasn't the front suspension cleaned up before install, why no oil cooler, recent engine rebuild without tensioner upgrade, ect. ect...

What this shows is lack of detail and care which could relate to the entire car. This is what you expect for a 7 to 12,000 dollar 911. However the lack of details don't cut it for a car closing in on 20k.

Usually the cheapest 911 you can find is also the most expensive 911 you can find. This one needs a ton and that just from the poor photos.

This "911 RS R tribute" is like what a custom home would be if it were built by dogs from outer space.

Sure, since they are outer space dogs, they have technology, and know how to do stuff. But in the end, they are copying other's ideas and don't really know why they do what they do. You can tell from the execution of the little details that they just don't get it. They are dogs, after all. You can just see them going "woof woof, arf?" Translation: "does this part go here? I don't know, I'm going lay outside in the grass and roll in poo"

I like the direction the guy was going but it seems like he had a few pages glued together in his to list when putting it together. As other's have stated with the issues above, add that the paint was more like a coverup than a paint. With the rust bubbles popping up here and there, what about the areas that were not in the photos? I look in the frunk and it looks like a new suspension pan, the upper area near the smugglers box looks ok but three inches higher and there's rust all over the place. Good concept, bad execution. Throw the crest on the hood too man, the humanit

Also, what's going on under that carpet in the rear?

Sean, if you're looking for a DD, I'd consider anything 76 or later as these are fully galvanized shells. the car in question is overpriced IMHO.

i bought a 78 SC roller, got an engine/gearbox from Zims, and installed it. fun little car to drive around town.

you can find a better car than that one
