i have a 73-t with mfi. with the temps. outside being 65 degrees my oil temp at 180 my pressure is runing about 35-40 psi at 3200-3400 rpm with 40 wt. oil. the engine has 138,000 miles onit. am i ok to drive it as long as i dont try reving it up to 6,000 rpm. is it time for a rebuild. also, i have read that my engine has 7-1 compression, what psi pressure should i get on my compression guage. i belive the last time i checked it was about 120 psi. thanks for any replys

Hotrod 351, your pressure corresponds to about 2-3bar, which sounds acceptable to me @ 3500rpm. I would not be too concerned with what weight of oil to use during the colder months, although a multi-weight oil does seem to be advised more often than not.
As for your compression readings, they really shouldn't differ too much when compared to a higher compression motor like a 3.0, but they do a bit. I would say 140 or so would be "healthy", maybe Steve W. or someone who's had experience with the older, lower-compression motors will "chime in" with more accurate advice on the matter.![Confused](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
The important thing to me, when doing a compression check is consistency amongst your measurements...120 doesn't sound bad for an older six, but are they ALL 120?
