Default 944 guy with a 911 wheel question

Hi guys, I was wondering if you could help me out on a quick question that I haven't found an answer for yet. I have a late offset 944 so ~50mm offset.

I am currently looking at a set of wheels on Craigslist that are 16" BBS wheels 7" one piece fronts and 8" two-piece rears. Unknown offset though. I spoke with the seller and he informed me that these came off of a '87 widebody 911.

Anyone care to school me in 911 offsets? I know 944 offset changed from 20mm to 52mm in '87, but have no clue about the 911s.

Here's an image of the wheels in question.

Thanks,
Garrett

Garrett,

The 87 offset 911 Turbo wheels wouldn't fit your 944, the offsets are going to be too low to fit under the late offset 944 fenders. The wheels from teh 87 911 Turbo would most likely fit under the early offset 944 arches, but with out knowing the exact offset of those wheels it is hard to say.

911 offsets, up till the 964 was introduced, are "early" offset so to speak.. in the 10-23mm range for 7 and 8" wheels.

Okay, thanks guys. I figured this would probably be the case seems how ever set of wheels I come across and like turn out to be early offset.

Probably a no-go on your late offset. I have known guys to mix and match inner/outer rime halves on the three piece wheels, but I doubt you want to get into that.

No, probably not. That's likely to end up with me getting into more trouble than I know how to handle if I start mixing wheels parts. I'll probably just wait for some Sport Classic I's to show up when I have the money.

Thanks again for the help
