Hi, Just this weekend I realized my childhood dream and bought a 2003 996 C2 with 32,700 miles on her, in mint condition. Looking forward to a long ownership and tons of fun. I really like the message board, I have learned a lot.

You are in the wrong place.

You need to go down to the water cooled boards. There is a 996 board all to their own.

For future reference, you may want to try the 996 forum under the water cooled menu, on the drop down menu at your left side screen. This particular forum is for the aircooled 911s, your new beauty is not technically a 911, but a 996, and water cooled.

hey my bad you live and you learn. and you are right I've been reading the 996 board, but posted here cause I'm a newbie and us newbies make mistakes.

I have MUCH respect for the air cooled models of the 911 as well.

Welcome to RL. Enjoy the beauty safely. Small tip from a relative newbie (ie myself). Get an air-cooled pre-89/early 89 just to hang out with these group of guys. They are second to none. Well worth the price of admission in my humble and honest opinion.

Thanks for the mostly warm welcome everyone ! I did re-post this in the correct forum so I'm off to a good start with the Water cooled guys. As I told them over there this 996 is a gift to myself for enduring two stressful years of chemo for my daughter, who thankfully is in remission these days. But I learned a lot during the process, and have decided to kick up the fun in my life, so I HAD to get a Porsche. I really like my 996 and can't stop looking at it. See all you guys on the road. This is going to be a fun ride ! Until I am air-cooled, I'm off to the correct board, bye for now.
