My First Porsche
I've been lusting for a 911 for as long as I can remember. I saved for years and watched my stash get raided for the bigger house, the SUV and the new appliances. Well, my wife finally realized it's not a fickle dream and I got the ok.
Attached are pics of my new (old) 1986 Targa. She's bone stock with 97k miles and was very well maintained by the previous owner. If only this &*^% snow and road salt would disappear...

Welcome to RL. A 80's Carrera in it's iconic form (targa) wearing the factory Fuch's wheels and a tea tray spoiler..... what more could you ask for. Enjoy the beauty safely in good health. I recently had a chance meeting with other 3.2's in the Seattle area and sat on the sports seats. OMG.. I wish I had those on mine. LSD would also be a bonus IMO. BTW, the group of guys who post on this forum are as classy as the car you just got into.

Nice first Porsche!
The '86s are really unique... They have many of the final improvemens of the Carreras that the '87 to '89 cars have, yet also have the final iteration of the 915. I think they are often very good deals. Plus, they have the new generation seats that were introduced in '85, but (unlike the '85s), they are mounted lower for better head room. I have an '85 and that is one of the unique quirks.
Basically I really like '86s and it looks like you found a nice, solid one. Congratulations!

Congratulations!!, I remember exactly how it felt when I finally got the nod. Six years later I still look forward to opening my garage when I get home from work just to see my car sitting there waiting for me to jump in and go for a drive. Now pretty much a track car, I still go out early on a Saturday morning to make an early Starbucks run. The only difference is now I wake the neighborhood doing it.

Thanks, Michael. I've been caught in the garage a few times, just gazing at it. My 10-yr old son is also pretty excited. It looks like maybe you have a young mechanic-in-training in your family too...
