Default New to 911

Guys,

New to 911 and was wondering if you could help me identify a button. Specifically the one above the lighter as to what it does.

Thanks

Matt

What ed said aand I think that is the sport exhaust option .. makes it sound throatier at low rpm and idle .. press the button and you will hear the diff.

but sure doesn't look like a 911 looks lke one of those water cooled camry things Porsche marketing dept tried to pass off as a 911 to unsuspecting buyers

I was going to post the usual sarcastic comment, like..."those are some fancy buttons", but then I realized he only has one post.

Something tells me you car is a little more advanced than ours

I think that button makes an espresso, or warms your buns.

Oops sorry, obvious new to forums also as I posted in the air cooled section. I will move this over to the 996. It's a 2002.

Thanks

DZucc....no one can help you unless you tell us about your car and post pics...you could be banned (just kidding). Welcome to the club...but refer to the car by it's model # - not as a "911". You have a 996 - what submodel we don't know - yet.

That button is an aftermarket custom button - usually to open the flange on the exhaust to make it sound better and louder. It may or may not be connected depending on if the seller kept the aftermarket exhaust on the car or sold it separately.

Don't venture into the air cooled forums with questions about your water-cooled porsche....there be dragons here!

Welcome aboard and don't take any of us too seriously.
